Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter isn't actually in London. It's at Leavesden, near Watford, and every visit runs on a timed ticket you have to book ahead: the Studio doesn't hold tickets back for sale on the day. So the real decision is how you get there, and whether you want someone else to handle it.
For most first-timers, a ticket-plus-coach package from central London is the easy answer. The best seller, a round trip from Victoria or Marble Arch with Premium Tours, starts at $122 and gives you about four hours inside. If you'd rather control your own day, book entry direct and take a direct train from Euston to Watford Junction (about 20 minutes), then the Studio shuttle bus.
One thing most guides skip: tickets bought direct from the Studio are non-refundable, while the packages below refund in full if you cancel early enough. That window runs from 24 hours to 7 days ahead, depending on the operator.

- Coach-and-ticket packages score lower on Viator (4.22 for Golden Tours, 4.23 for Evan Evans) than their companies do on TripAdvisor or Google. Reviews of these packages often blame traffic and timings rather than the Studio.
- Golden Tours has the widest spread: 4.2 on TripAdvisor but 4.8 on Google from more than 40,000 reviews at its Victoria departure point.
- See Your City rates highly everywhere: 4.8 on TripAdvisor, 5.0 on Google and 4.86 on Viator from 4,232 reviews.
- Group sizes vary a lot. City Wonders' guided Studio visit takes 8 people at most, while the coach packages carry 50–78.
Spread is the gap between the highest and lowest rating we could verify. “Not verified” means we couldn’t confirm a listing and count for that platform.
Package or DIY: how to get there
There are two sensible ways to reach the Studio from central London. The right one depends on where you're staying and how much you value flexibility over convenience.
Ticket + coach package
You meet a coach in central London (Victoria, Marble Arch, Paddington or Bloomsbury, depending on the operator), ride out, enter in the group's time slot and ride back at a fixed time. Evan Evans Tours quotes roughly 1 to 1.5 hours each way depending on traffic, and most packages give you about four hours at the Studio. Nobody guides you inside: you go at your own pace, with Studio staff on hand to answer questions. It's the lowest-effort option and the one we'd book for a first visit.
DIY: Euston train + Studio shuttle
Book a time slot on the Studio's own site, then take a direct train from London Euston to Watford Junction, about 20 minutes (slower stopping services also run, so check yours is direct). The Studio's electric shuttle bus runs from Watford Junction in around 15 minutes, and the ride is included in your entry ticket. Buses run at least every 30 minutes from 9:20am, earlier when the first tour is at 9am, and the last one back leaves when the Studio closes.
The Studio confirms Oyster pay-as-you-go is valid between Euston and Watford Junction. If you plan to tap a contactless bank card instead, check the fare on TfL before you travel. DIY suits anyone staying near Euston or King's Cross, or anyone who wants to linger past a coach's fixed return time.
Which package to book
- Simplest day: Premium Tours from Victoria or Marble Arch, rated 4.45 across 4,204 reviews. Entry plus coach, no frills.
- Most departures: Golden Tours Gray Line London, the Studio's preferred bus partner, runs hourly from Victoria on branded double-deckers and screens a Potter film on board when available.
- More time inside: Evan Evans Tours sells a 6-hour extended-stay option from Victoria, and Axis & Globe Travel has a 5-hour option leaving from Bedford Way in Bloomsbury.
- Guided: City Wonders UK runs the only product here with a guide inside the Studio, in groups of up to 8, with an escorted train from Euston and a flexible return. It costs more, from $184, but it's rated 4.64.
- Two sights, one day: International Friends pairs about four hours at the Studio with a guided walk in Oxford. It's a long 11.5 hours day. If Oxford is the bigger draw, see our Oxford day trips instead.
One caution on the coach tours: Golden Tours Gray Line London and Evan Evans Tours both note that branded vehicles are subject to availability, so you may ride on a regular coach.
Timed entry, how long to allow, and when to go
Every ticket carries a 30-minute entry window, and you can walk in at any point within it. The Studio says the average visit lasts about three and a half hours and there's no time limit once you're inside, which is why coach packages that allow four hours suit most people. If you read every prop label, pick an extended-stay coach or go DIY.
From central London, a standard coach package takes 7 hours of your day. Don't plan anything tight for that evening.
Seasonal features in late 2026: Dark Arts, the Halloween overlay, runs until 8 November 2026. Hogwarts in the Snow follows from 14 November 2026 to 17 January 2027, with the Great Hall set for a Christmas feast, a frosted Forbidden Forest and the castle model under snow; those extras are included in the standard ticket price. Dinner in the Great Hall events run on selected December dates and are ticketed separately. Pairing the Studio with the festive city? Our Christmas in London guide covers the rest.
Refund rules: read these before you pay
This is where people lose money. Tickets bought direct from the Studio are non-refundable. You can move the date for a £10 administration fee, by phone and before your visit, subject to availability. Group tickets can't be changed at all.
The Viator packages on this page refund in full if you cancel in time, but the cut-off differs:
- 24 hours: the escorted train package from City Wonders UK and both London walking tours.
- 2 days: the guided small-group tour from City Wonders UK.
- 3 days: the coach packages from Premium Tours, Golden Tours Gray Line London, Evan Evans Tours and Axis & Globe Travel.
- 7 days: the Studio + Oxford day from International Friends.
If your dates might move, the escorted train package is the safest bet: timed entry, an open return ticket and the shortest cancellation window here, from $161. It has far fewer reviews (32) than the big coach tours, so weigh that up.
No Studio slot? Do Potter in London
If the Studio is sold out for your dates, or you have kids who'd enjoy a shorter outing, London's filming locations make a fun half-day. The two-hour walk from See Your City runs from near London Bridge into the West End with house sorting, trivia games and a short Tube hop, and it's the best-reviewed Potter product we found.
For a longer route, Evan Evans Tours runs a three-hour walk to up to 18 locations that finishes at Platform 9¾ in King's Cross station. Both tours need a Tube fare, so bring a contactless card. Still weighing your options? Start with our day trips from London or our Studio Tour tips.
