A Tower Bridge ticket buys you the inside of the bridge: the two towers, the high-level walkways with their glass floors, and the Victorian Engine Rooms that once powered the lifts. Crossing the bridge on the road-level pavements is free; you only pay to go up and in.

For most visitors the official ticket, booked direct, is the best value: £18 for an adult, £9 for a child aged 5 to 15, and under-5s go free. From November 1, 2026, Tower Bridge takes 10% off when you book on its website by 11:59pm the day before. Viator's options make sense when you want something extra: a guide, a river cruise, or the Tower of London next door on the same morning.

Below we compare five ways in, then cover lift times, how long to allow and how to get there. Every product was checked on Viator on October 26, 2026, for dates between November 10 and December 10.

What the Tower Bridge Exhibition includes

Tower Bridge calls the paid visit simply "Entry to Tower Bridge". One ticket covers three parts, in this order:

  • The North and South Towers. There are stairs and lifts; Tower Bridge recommends walking up if you can manage it, for the best experience.
  • The high-level walkways and glass floors. The two walkways link the towers, with glass panels set into the floor so you can look straight down at the traffic and the river. If the bridge lifts while you're up there, you watch the ship pass under your feet.
  • The Victorian Engine Rooms. After the towers you follow the Blue Line outdoors to a separate entrance on the south side of the river, where the Victorian machinery that once worked the bridge is on show. Keep your ticket: it's checked again here, and the Engine Rooms take last admission at 5:30pm.

An audio tour is included; bring your own headphones. There's no café or water fountain inside, bags must be no bigger than 45 x 35 x 20 cm, and suitcases aren't allowed. Everyone's bag is searched.

Tower Bridge tickets and prices

These are the official online prices from towerbridge.org.uk, checked October 26, 2026:

  • Adult (18+): £18
  • Concession: £13.50, for seniors 60+, students 18+ and 16-to-17-year-olds with ID, and disabled adults
  • Child (5–15): £9, and under-5s go free

Three rules worth knowing before you book. First, the new 10% discount for visits from November 1, 2026, applies only when you book direct on the Tower Bridge website by 11:59pm the day before; it doesn't apply to same-day bookings, Ticket Office sales or third-party sellers. Second, booking ahead gets you a time slot, not a fast track, so you may still queue outside for the bag check. Third, official tickets are non-refundable, though you can move a standard ticket to another date in advance.

Any tickets left over are sold on the day at the Ticket Office on the west side of the North Tower. On a quiet November weekday you'll usually get in, but weekends and afternoons are busier.

When a Viator ticket makes sense

Golden Tours Gray Line London's admission ticket covers the same walkways and Engine Rooms, rated 4.51 from 174 reviews, from $24. It costs more than £18 at most exchange rates, so the reason to choose it is flexibility: free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead, which the official ticket doesn't offer.

The London Pass

Go City confirms that Tower Bridge is included with the London Pass, booked as a time slot in the Go City app. It only pays off if you use it at several paid attractions a day. The Viator version from $143 is rated 3.74 and its sales are final. Run the numbers first in our London Pass guide.

Bridge lift times and how to see one

Tower Bridge says it lifts around 500 times a year, for tall ships, sailing barges and river cruisers. Vessels book a lift at least 24 hours ahead, and the official lift times page lists each upcoming lift with the vessel name and direction. Extra lifts can be added at short notice, so check it on the morning of your visit.

You don't need a ticket to watch. Tower Bridge says you can see a lift from any of the outside areas around the bridge: the riverside walk by the Tower of London on the north bank and the path past City Hall on the south bank give the classic view. If you time your ticket so you're on the walkways at lift time, you'll see the deck open beneath the glass floor instead. A lift can delay entry while it happens.

Combo tours with the Tower of London

The bridge and the Tower sit side by side, and the best-rated way to do both is LetzGo City Tours's early-access tour. It starts at Tower Hill before the public is admitted, watches the Opening Ceremony, gets you into the Crown Jewels early, then walks you to Tower Bridge with timed entry to the walkways, glass floor and Engine Rooms. It runs 3 hours 30 minutes, groups are capped at 20, and it's rated 4.76 from 776 reviews.

The same operator's LetzGo City Tours bridge tour (don't be confused by the old Tower of London wording in its Viator web address; the listing itself covers Tower Bridge, not the Tower) gives you a guide inside the towers, walkways and Engine Rooms, then a cruise upstream past HMS Belfast to Westminster Pier. It has only 37 reviews so far.

Top Sights Tours Group LLC's 6 hours 30 minutes day is a long walking tour from The Ritz past Buckingham Palace, Westminster and the South Bank that ends with a Tower Bridge Exhibition ticket. It's a lot of walking, and with 17 reviews it's the least proven option here.

If you'd rather do the Tower on your own, the official Tower ticket and the guided options are compared in our Tower of London tours guide, and our Crown Jewels tips explain how to beat the Jewel House line before you walk over to the bridge.

How long to allow and the best time to go

Tower Bridge suggests about an hour to an hour and a half for a visit, and the included audio tour runs about 45 minutes. Remember the separate last-entry times: 5pm for the towers and 5:30pm for the Engine Rooms.

  • Go early. The bridge opens at 9:30am and Go City notes it's busiest in the afternoon and at weekends.
  • Second Saturdays. From 9:30am to 11:30am on the second Saturday of each month, Tower Bridge runs a low-capacity Relaxed Opening for neurodivergent visitors, and Go City says pass entry isn't available in that window. In late 2026 those Saturdays are November 14 and December 12.
  • Winter. Opening hours don't change by season, but sunset comes around 4pm in late November, so an afternoon slot gives you the city lights from the walkways.
  • Holidays. The bridge is closed December 24, 25 and 26, and opens at 10am on January 1.

Getting to Tower Bridge

  • Tube: Tower Hill (District and Circle lines) is about 500 meters, or a seven-minute walk, from the Ticket Office, with step-free access from platform to street. London Bridge (Northern and Jubilee lines, plus National Rail) is about a kilometer from the Engine Rooms entrance on the south side.
  • DLR and rail: Tower Gateway DLR and Fenchurch Street station are both close by.
  • River: Uber Boat by Thames Clippers stops at Tower Pier, on the north bank beside the Tower of London. A sightseeing cruise from Westminster passes right under the bridge; compare them in our Thames cruises guide.

The Ticket Office is on the west side of the North Tower, the Tower of London side. From there it's a short walk west to the Monument and on to St Paul's Cathedral if you want to make a City day of it.

Is the Tower Bridge Exhibition worth it?

For most first-time visitors, yes. £18 buys the glass-floor walkways, the towers and the Victorian Engine Rooms in about an hour to an hour and a half, and it's next door to the Tower of London. If you only want the view of the bridge itself, walking across is free.

Tower Bridge recommends about 1 to 1.5 hours, and the included audio tour runs about 45 minutes. Last entry to the towers is 5pm and to the Engine Rooms 5:30pm.

Yes. The road-level pavements on both sides are public and free. You only need a ticket to go inside the towers, the high-level walkways with the glass floors and the Engine Rooms.
